Thereby the Croatian Nature Parks Family is increased by one more pearl; the Lastovo Islands – 195.83 km2 broad archipelago. Just for you. If you have ever been to Lastovo, you know for sure why it is declared as a Nature Park. If you have not, then you should know that it is preserved just for you – so you can - this summer or maybe some coming summers, springs, winters or autumns - come to Lastovo and enjoy the pure, non-desecrated nature. How did it happen? The protection of Lastovo was specified in strategic documents of Republic of Croatia in 1999. Not long after, this intention was supported by The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Actually WWF has declared Lastovo as a priority for conservation of the Mediterranean biodiversity in 2003. And then, the local community waked up, and the Ministry, and numerous scientists, numerous volunteers, enthusiasts… and at the end the Croatian Parliament accepted the Law of declaring Lastovo Islands a Nature Park. Your turn. Now, it is your turn; come to Lastovo and enjoy this pure original beauty. Beauty of nature, beautiful as it always was. And, yes, support this idea by sharing this information. Because, protection of nature is Our Responsibility. |
